"Lilith" (The Depth of our Shadows)

$3,200.00
Sold Out

29" x 60" Oil on canvas, vintage frame with olive velvet insert, 2024.

Inspired by the mystical symbolism of "as above, so below", this artwork explores the coexistence between our facade and shadows. The double portrait in mirror juxtaposes an upper figure embodying the perfection we choose to show the world, an image shaped to meet societal expectations.

In contrast, the lower figure is more raw, more chaotic, with a small heart tattoo beneath the eye. It reveals our hidden, unconscious, and vulnerable emotions, representing the shadowed aspects of our personality, less refined and more authentic.

The composition evokes the form of a playing card, emphasizing the idea that each woman reigns over her life. Inspired by the myth of Lilith, this piece becomes a tribute to feminine power, liberation from imposed roles, and the assertion of personal agency. Through this duality, the artist invites viewers to embrace all facets of their identity, celebrating self-acceptance and the reconciliation of light and darkness. This mystical and modern work challenges how our shadows shape our true being and destiny.
